These are anxiety-filled times. Whether you are social distancing, self-isolating, or in a shelter-in-place situation, planning for a future trip or even virtually traveling to another destination can offer a good distraction and bring much-needed relief from the pandemonium. So, following are some notes about majestic Guadeloupe, based on my personal experience a few years ago!
1. This butterfly-shaped island features white sand beaches on one side and rainforest on the other with black sand beaches due to the volcano, and rocky cliffs with beautiful views all around.
2. Make accommodations on each side to avoid wasting a lot of time driving.

3. Speaking of driving, make sure someone in your party knows how to drive stick. There are very few automatic options. Driving in Guadeloupe is also not for the faint of heart, but does offer incredible views.
4. If you're going to hike the volcano (and you should), make sure there is a 0% chance of rain on the entire island. Trust me.

5. Siestas are not only a thing in Guadeloupe, but restaurants don't all take them at the same time, so bring snacks and your patience when exploring.
6. Outside of the few main tourist hubs, many people don't speak English. So use your QT time to learn some French!

7. There are many hidden gems around the island. It's worth it to find them.
